During our recent trip to Washington, we enjoyed a hike on the Bagley Creek Loop Trail in North Cascades National Park. With partly cloudy skies and occasional sunshine, it was a beautiful day to explore one of the park's shorter trails.

An Easy Trail with Plenty to See

The 1.4-mile loop is easy in difficulty, making it a perfect hike for slowing down and appreciating the scenery. Although it isn't a long trail, it offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature and spot wildlife.

Mountain Scenery Around Every Turn

The trail wound through beautiful alpine surroundings, with rushing water, rocky landscapes, and patches of wild vegetation. Even on a shorter hike, the scenery made us want to stop often and take everything in.

Shoreline Bird Sightings

Near the water, we spotted a couple of Spotted Sandpipers moving along the shoreline. Watching them dart between the rocks was a fun way to begin the morning's birdwatching.

A Friendly Marmot Encounter

One of the highlights of the hike was seeing a hoary marmot. It calmly went about its day, giving us a wonderful opportunity to observe one of the park's iconic alpine mammals.

We also came across an American Pipit and a Dark-eyed Junco during our hike. Both species felt perfectly at home in the mountain landscape and added to the variety of wildlife we encountered.

A Robin's Busy Breakfast

One of our favorite moments came when we watched an American Robin snacking on mosquitoes. It was fascinating to observe this behavior, and the robin stayed busy as it searched for more tiny insects.

A Splash of Color

A Yellow-rumped Warbler made a brief appearance before disappearing into the nearby vegetation. Its bright colors stood out against the mountain backdrop and made for a nice final addition to our bird list.

A Wonderful Stop in the North Cascades

By the time we completed the loop, we were reminded that memorable hikes don't have to be long. Between the beautiful scenery, the wildlife encounters, and the peaceful atmosphere, the Bagley Creek Loop became another favorite memory from our North Cascades adventure together.
