Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Early on, we spotted a pair of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers moving quickly through the shrubs. Their constant motion and soft calls made them fun to follow as we walked.

A few Ash-throated Flycatchers appeared along the trail, perching briefly before darting off again.

Towhees and a Familiar Jay

We also came across a couple of California Towhees near the path, quietly foraging in the brush. Not far away, a California Scrub-jay perched nearby, watching us for a moment before moving on.

One of the highlights was spotting a Lazuli Bunting. Its bright coloring stood out beautifully against the softer tones of the cloudy morning.
