This Easter Sunday, we headed up to the Laguna Mountain area in Cleveland National Forest for a hike on the Old County Road and Chico Ravine Trail.

A few Common Ravens flew overhead, their calls echoing through the forest. On the ground and in the trees, we saw many American Robins, adding a familiar and lively presence throughout the hike.

A lot of Western Bluebirds perched in open areas, their bright colors standing out against the landscape.

We also spotted a couple of Red-winged Blackbirds and a Brewer’s Blackbird, adding to the variety of birdlife along the trail.

Busy Treelines and Open Skies

A few Pygmy Nuthatches moved quickly through the trees, while many Mountain Chickadees kept the forest canopy active with constant motion.

Overhead, a few Violet-green Swallows darted through the air with quick, graceful movements.

A Few Special Sightings

We were excited to spot a Band-tailed Pigeon and, later on, a Townsend’s Warbler moving through the branches. These sightings added a couple of memorable highlights to an already great morning.
